Plum Barbecue Sauce

This sweet, tangy, and savory barbecue sauce is both easy and delicious to make!

Equipment

  • 1 blender or immersion blender
  • 1 saucepan

Ingredients
 
 

  • 4-5 plums, sliced
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • 1/3 cup bourbon, optional
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese 5 Spice
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions
 

  • Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan on medium heat.
  • Allow the mixture to come to a simmer and let simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the plums are very soft and the sauce has thickened.
  • Either transfer the mixture to a blender or use an immersion blender to blend it until it is smooth.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
