Baked Apples with Brie

Baked apples are lightly caramelized in a sweet and tangy caramel before being finished with brie and walnuts in the oven.

  • 1 Oven safe skillet

Ingredients
 
 

  • 3 apples
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 4-6 oz brie
  • fresh rosemary
  • handful of walnuts

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cut the apples in half. Remove the core, and a little of the excess flesh to create a cavity.
  • Heat a large oven safe skillet on medium heat.
  • Add the butter and sugar and stir until the butter is melted and sugar is dissolved, 2-4 minutes.
  • Place the apples face side down into the pan.
  • Add the apple cider and a couple sprigs of rosemary.
  • Allow the apples to cook for 5-10 minutes or until they are tender. Use a toothpick to test the texture.
  • Remove the pan from the heat. Flip the apples cut side up.
  • Fill the cavity of the apples with brie, fresh rosemary, and walnuts.
  • Bake the apples for 5 minutes or until the brie is melted.
