This Golden Milk Banana Bread is a cozy twist on the classic, made with ripe bananas and warming golden milk spices like turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom. It’s soft, fragrant, and just different enough to stand out from your usual banana bread routine.
In a large bowl, whisk together sugar and melted butter. Add mashed bananas, eggs, and vanilla, and whisk to combine.
In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and black pepper.
Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until combined—don’t overmix.
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake 45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
Cool 15 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack before slicing.

Notes
Use very ripe bananas! Bananas with lots of brown spots are ideal here, since they’re sweeter, softer, and mash easily into the batter. If your bananas are not super ripe, you can ripen them by gently roasting them in the oven.
Measure the spices carefully! Golden milk spices are meant to be warm and cozy, not overpowering. So be careful not to add too much!
Don’t overmix the batter. Once the dry ingredients are added, gently fold just until everything is incorporated. Overmixing can develop too much gluten, which leads to a dense or tough loaf.
Let the bread cool before slicing! It can be tempting to cut in right away, but letting the loaf cool allows it to fully set!
