Roasted figs with yogurt in a bowl topped with walnuts and thyme.

Roasted Figs with Yogurt Recipe

Fresh figs roasted with honey and olive oil until soft and jammy, then spooned warm over creamy Greek yogurt with a scatter of toasted walnuts. A simple, naturally gluten-free treat that works just as well for breakfast as it does for dessert.
Course Appetizer, Dessert

Ingredients

  • 10 fresh figs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • A few sprigs of thyme or rosemary
  • 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
  • Chopped walnut for garnish
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F.
  • Rinse the figs under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Cut a small “X” on the top of each fig.
  • Place the figs in a baking dish. Drizzle the olive oil and honey over the figs.
  • Add the sprigs of thyme or rosemary around the figs for additional flavor.
  • Transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven. Roast the figs for about 30 minutes basting them occasionally with the juices released until they become soft and slightly caramelized.
  • While the figs are roasting, spread the plain Greek yogurt evenly in a serving bowl.
  • Once the figs are done, remove them from the oven. Place the warm figs on top of the yogurt.
  • Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the figs and yogurt. Garnish with a few fresh thyme or rosemary leaves. Drizzle a bit more juices from the pan and serve immediately. This dish is perfect as a light dessert or a sweet breakfast treat!

Notes

  • Choose ripe, plump figs that give slightly when pressed for the best flavor and texture.
  • Spread the yogurt in a thin, even layer so the warm figs and juices reach every bite.
  • Add walnuts and herbs just before serving to keep them crisp.
  • Best enjoyed immediately, while the figs are still warm; store leftover figs (without yogurt) in the fridge for up to 3 days.
